Welcome to My Impetus. I had been wanting to start a blog for awhile now, and I was struggling with a name to come up with for a nice blog/site. I had tried all sorts of combinations about golf and photography, but every domain name was either taken or I didn’t like it. Currently, I have a love of photography, golf and recently SCUBA. So I decided to try to come up with a name about love of life, love of nature, love of one of my interests. It was then that I decided to write about all of my passions, and decided that was perfect! Impetus is Latin for passion, and means today ‘a driving force; stimulus’. This blog will be a collection of my opinions, thoughts, and ramblings of passions in my life. Hopefully I will be able to share with you some of the knowledge I have gained over the years in various aspects of my life, and perhaps prevent some from running into the same ‘gotcha’s that got me the first time.
I have been playing golf for a number of years, but only recently started to really love it. It was around the time a great friend of mine started helping me out with my swing, my tempo, and mostly my patience that I truly started to enjoy the game. I am now able to break 100 almost constantly, which was one of the best feelings ever. I plan on continuing to practice and research golf, and post up my experiences.
I have always liked to take pictures, however the S400 point and shoot camera I had just wasn’t cutting it anymore. After a few months of research, I decided upon the Canon 400d (Digital Rebel XTi) and I haven’t looked back. I absolutely love digital photography and there is an enormous amount of information out there to swallow. They say life is about the journey and not the destination, and I truly believe photography allows you to capture your journey, as well as your friends and families.
I also recently got into SCUBA. So far I have done my Open Water certification, and Advanced Open Water certification dives through PADI and I took the classes at Rutgers University, where I also work.
